Mole Valley Ramblers

- friendly walking in the heart of Surrey

The Walks Filter has been designed to help you select MVR walks that might be of interest to you and then display them in a variety of formats. Full details of each walk are provided, including the option to produce a map with directions of how to get to the starting point, which can be particularly useful.

We encourage you to try this useful feature, which you can find at:

https://www.molevalleyramblers.org.uk/walks/walks-filter.html

You might find it helpful to save the above address as a shortcut on your device(s) so you always have easy access to our current group walks programme. (Different devices will have different ways of doing this).

When opening the Walks Filter you will see a display panel with details of the first 20 published group walks. You can click Next repeatedly to scroll through them all, or select “view all” from the "per page" dropdown list at the top right of the display panel. Click a walk title to see its full details, which include a map showing the start point (walker icon) and a useful link to obtain directions on how to get there from your current location using Google Maps. (If you have the Google Maps app on your phone, it can then direct you there using voiced instructions, just like a satnav device). The map style can be changed by using the tray icon, zoomed in (+) and out (-) or shown as a full page ([ ]). The OS grid reference, latitude/longitude, nearest postcode and What3Words address are also provided and you can see the walk details, as shown on the Ramblers website, by clicking the link below the map to View walk on National Web Site.

Please be aware of the limitations of using postcodes with Satnavs in rural areas; the Google directions provide a much more reliable method of reaching the starting point as they are based on latitude/longitude.

The list of walks may be filtered, if required, by clicking the Filter button and then using the dropdown panel to select the following:

  • Dates: enter the start and/or end dates of the period when you would like to walk

  • Day of the week: check/uncheck the appropriate boxes to select your preferred day(s)

  • Distance: check/uncheck the appropriate boxes to select your preferred distance(s)

  • Grade: check/uncheck the appropriate boxes to select your preferred grade(s)

Selected walks can be displayed in a Table, as a List or on a Map by clicking the appropriate tab above the display panel. Each option provides a Print button at the end of the display, enabling you to print a simple list of your selected walks. To close the dropdown panel, just click the Filter button again.

We hope you will find these features useful.
