Information and booking for the walk/ brewery visit planned for Tues 13th May are below.............
Dear Mole Valley Rambler,
We have had lots of interest in this outing and now is the time when we need to firm up numbers, both for booking of refreshments and to know which of the walk options you would like to do.
For those for whom a taste of draught ales does not appeal, fear not, Drop Kick also sells cider, prosecco and Aperol spritz – which is I am told a popular cocktail. More about the brewery can be found here Home. However, equally important is the chance to join a sociable walk, of just under six miles, which will take you along paths you may not be familiar with, with a pleasant lunch time break at the Brewery in Punchbowl Lane, with a freshly baked woodfired pizza along with a range of beers and other drinks. The pizzas are made by 500 Degrees Sliced, with a choice of flavours, made with the freshest ingredients, see here.
Our Chairman, Abdul, has negotiated a good deal, for which we need you to commit to payment in advance for pizza. Drinks can be bought and paid for by card or cash on the day. There is an outdoor seating area under cover, and there will soon be more space as they are expanding into an adjacent barn.
Abdul has cleverly delegated planning of the walks using local knowledge! The result is a choice of two walks, both just under six miles, devised by Simon and Fiona, details of which will be published on Walks Manager in the normal way. We have considered carefully how to minimise walking on Punchbowl Lane and chosen safe road crossing points.
In order to help with planning it would be useful to know your route preference in advance. Then we can enlist additional leaders if either group were to be too large.
Walk One will start at 11:00 from Four Wents Pond Car Park, Blackbrook Lane. It is easy walking over open fields near the railway line, to the Brewery. After lunch the return is alongside Bents Brook and over Holmwood Common on lesser used paths. There are a few stiles but no hills.
Walk Two will start at 10:30 from Dorking Railway Station, giving you the chance to leave your car at home. There is also the option of private parking nearby if you contact the leaders in advance. This walk allows for delightful views across Dorking from the Hope Estate. It is slightly hillier but has no stiles. We venture through the Glory Wood on the way out, under the A24 and alongside Bents Brook. After lunch we have a nifty path that takes us up to Deepdene Terrace on the way back.
We look forward to hearing from members and Ramblers from nearby Groups, along with any friends or guests you would like to invite. Prior booking for lunch is essential. See here to buy your tickets through Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/dropkick-brewery-visit-tickets-1300706120019
Best wishes
