Mole Valley Ramblers

friendly walking in the heart of Surrey

Reminders for walkers

  • When choosing a walk, first check that its grade is within your own capability; definitions of the MVR walk grades can be found here.
  • Make sure you check the starting location for the walk and note the leader's contact number.  Ideally, these should be taken from the walk details on the website, which is always kept up to date with any changes.
  • Aim to arrive at the starting point in good time. SatNav users please be aware that the Post Code provided will identify the location of the nearest building to the starting point, which might be less accurate than the Grid Reference in rural areas. An "addressed envelope" icon shows the Post Code location on the map that is displayed on the website alongside the walk details. (You might need to close the "starting point" box in order to see it).
  • If you are walking for the first time please make yourself known to the leader at the start of the walk.
  • Although there is no charge for joining one of our walks, we would like you to join Mole Valley Ramblers if you walk regularly with us.
  • Suitable stout footwear should be worn, together with outdoor clothing appropriate for the season and weather.
  • For safety when walking on roads please keep in single file on the right- hand side of the road facing the traffic. We also keep in single file when crossing fields containing crops.
  • Please let the leader know if you are obliged to stop at any time or break off before the end of the walk.
  • Any dog accompanying walkers must be kept under control at all times.
  • On whole day walks it is advisable to carry an adequate supply of food and drink. Where there is a PLB (Pub at lunch break) there will be time to enjoy a drink and use a toilet.
  • On shorter walks there will be a refreshment break and so you may wish to carry a drink and snack.
  • We like to be sociable and the main reason we walk is to enjoy ourselves.
